This is a list of characters in the game House Party. As of version 1.0.1 (September 2022), the game begins with eleven non-playable characters (NPCs) in the party, with You arriving as the 12th. Optional content in the game allows you to invite an additional four guests, for a total of sixteen.
All of the NPCs have opportunities which tell stories based on your interactions with them. Some of these stories lead to romance, nudity, and other intimate content. The player can romance most, but not all, of the characters. Completing one opportunity can prevent you from finishing another; pursuing intimacy with one character may make it more difficult to become intimate with someone else.
Amy[]
- Main article: Amy
Introduced in version 0.7.0, Amy is new in town and eager to make friends. She is trying to complete a scavenger hunt to join a sorority, and is considering leaving the party early to work on that until the player offers to help. Amy is knowledgeable about art, which can be useful in other characters' storylines. She takes ADHD medication that causes her to be hyperactive in certain scenes. Derek is Amy's closest friend.
Arin[]

Based on real-life YouTube personality Arin Hanson, Arin was added to version 0.16.0 after the results of a 2018 contest. Arin and his partner Dan arrive at the party en route to a Game Grumps live show. Aside from a brief scene in which Arin kisses Frank, he has no intimacy options. The only goal of Arin and Dan's storyline is to watch them react to the party, and then help them get back on their way.
Ashley[]

Ashley is Madison's sister, and lives with her in the house. The two sisters don't get along, and Madison would like nothing more than for Ashley to move out. Ashley has been subjected to many cruel pranks by Madison, and would like nothing better than to get her back in one big epic prank. The player must decide which sister to side with.
Brittney[]

Brittney begins the game sitting in the Study, feeling too self-conscious to join the party. Various dialogue indicates that she is a lesbian, and has a crush on Amy. Nevertheless, when playing as a male character, you can achieve a little intimacy with Brittney via other characters' storylines. When playing as a female character, you are invited to the party as Brittney's friend, and there are several female-only opportunities that involve romancing Brittney. Brittney is also a central character in her own custom story, "Date Night with Brittney".
Dan[]

Dan was added to the game in version 0.16.0 and based on real-life YouTube personality Dan Avidan, following a 2018 contest. Dan and Arin can optionally be summoned to the party through the player's actions, and largely stay together during the game. Dan has no intimacy options, so his only purpose is to walk around with Arin making humorous remarks until you try to help them leave the party to reach the Game Grumps live show.
Derek[]

When playing as a male character, you are Derek's old friend from high school, and he is the only one you know at the party. Derek was added to the game in 0.7.0, and a large part of his role is answering questions that come up during opportunities. In certain storylines Derek will offer to help you deal with Frank, or you will offer to help Derek find out who sold meth to his little brother. Derek has a fraught relationship with Madison following a recent hook-up, and the disappearance of his cat Purgalicious.
Frank[]

No one is certain who invited Frank to the party. He has volunteered his services as a chaperone to ensure no drinking occurs, and he spends most of his time in the Living Room guarding the alcohol he confiscated. Frank's violent attitude makes him an antagonist for most opportunities, but his idiosyncratic behavior also makes him the game's breakout character. As of version 0.19.0, Frank is fully romanceable, whether playing as a male or female character.
Katherine[]

Katherine is highly intelligent and extremely smug about it. She is obnoxious to every character in the game, and care must be taken to choose the right things to make her happy. Katherine's boyfriend was supposed to meet her at the party, but she won't tell you the whole story until you get her a drink of Rum. Her technical prowess makes her useful in several opportunities, and her arrogance makes her an easy choice when creating a "medical emergency" for Stephanie to work on.
Leah[]

Leah was added to the game in version 0.13.0, although most of her storyline was not implemented until 0.15.0. She accompanies Frank to the party as his promising "apprentice," and treats him like a revered sensei that she must obey. Leah is more mobile than Frank, making it more complicated to get away with having alcohol, but there are opportunities to drive a wedge between them. In her main storyline, Leah can give you combat training that improves your ability to defend yourself when attacked.
Lety[]

Lety is based on the real-life YouTube influencer from Lety Does Stuff, who won a contest in November 2018 to appear in the game. Lety was added in version 0.14.0 as Ashley's Spanish tutor, whom the player can invite to the party. Much of Lety's storyline involves keeping her from getting into trouble by being gullible and easily distracted. Unlike Arin and Dan, Lety is fully romanceable; however, this content had to be censored to comply with Steam requirements from version 0.20.2 to 0.21.2.
Madison[]

The host of the party and the owner of the house, Madison is preoccupied with making sure everything goes well. Despite her attempts to be the perfect host, she cannot conceal her contempt for Ashley, her complicated feelings about Derek, or her fascination with getting Rachael to invite Vickie. Madison fancies herself an artist, and will talk at length about her interest in "sky animals." But her most notable trait is her long history of pranking both Ashley and Derek, which can backfire with some help from the player.
Patrick[]

Patrick initially comes across as a stereotypical dudebro who is perpetually drunk, but his storyline eventually reveals he is the millionaire "C-E-Bro" of Donghauser Industries. Patrick controls his corporate empire from a briefcase containing Compubrah, an artificial intelligence that runs everything for him. Ashley and Madison are his cousins, and he is only at the party as a favor to their parents. No one at the party likes Patrick, but Rachael in particular despises him. Intimacy with Patrick is limited, but not as limited as his comically tiny penis.
Rachel[]

Rachel used to go to school with Madison, but she's mainly at the party because she's friends with Vickie. She's smart enough to figure this out; in fact, she's almost smart enough to realize she's trapped in a video game living out the same scenarios over and over. Rachel is devoted to progressive causes such as helping the environment and stamping out the revenge porn on Patrick's website.
Stephanie[]

Stephanie attends classes with some of the other guests, but she's less interested in school than erotic dancing. After the local gentlemen's club closed, she started working as a topless waitress at Chubbies, but she finds that less fulfilling. Stephanie is at a crossroads where she can be convinced to live up to her potential as a medical practitioner, or waste her life getting high on pills and alcohol and paint fumes and whippets.
Vickie[]

Introduced in version 0.7.0, Vickie is a professional porn star. Most of the guests have heard of her, and she is apparently very rich and successful in her line of work. Vickie is friends with Rachael but only comes to the party if you send a spoofed text message inviting her over. Once she arrives, she's willing to show you how to have threesomes with most of the other guests...if you pass her tests. She also has her own custom story "A Vickie Vixen Valentine" where you two break into Madison's house.
You[]

The character you control in the game can be male or (as of version 0.22.0) female. As a male character you are Derek's best friend from high school, although you don't remember much about that after the head injuries sustained working at the batting cages. As a female character you are Brittney's friend who comes over to bring her a different shirt. Either way you are a bit of a scoundrel with a heart of gold, trying to score as much as possible while seriously considering the ethical implications of your decisions.
